Fire Extinguisher Servicing
Request a Call Back - Extinguisher Service
Fire extinguisher servicing involves a set procedure from within the British Standards, ensuring extinguishers are in working order if ever required during fire emergencies. The annual service includes all of the essentials, checking the extinguisher has not been used and ensuring nothing has been tampered with. Additionally, we must make sure the pressure gauge reading is correct, by pressure testing, checking for blockages in the discharge hose, weighing the extinguisher and replacing all o’rings and seals.
This ensures that a unit is fully compliant with the certification issued. Every fifth year on wet and powder units an extended service is carried out at site. The internal inspection can be done once emptied and a new extinguishant medium is used to refill these units, if compliant, they are then put back into service

Don’t Replace Your Existing Extinguishers
Within the British Standards, all types of extinguishers, apart from carbon dioxide units, require an extended service every fifth-year anniversary. Briefly explained, each foam, water, powder, and wet chemical extinguisher, must undertake a test that empties their contents.
This ensures that a unit discharges correctly and that an internal inspection can be made. Therefore, new sealing parts are added and a new medium is used to refill these units, if compliant, they are then put back into service.
This means you don’t need to replace extinguishers just because they are 5 years old, you can have them serviced with OHEAP and as long as they pass as safe, they can be returned to use.
