about

WHAT IS Emergency Lighting?

Emergency lighting is a key component of any building or facility. When there’s a power outage this can prevent the loss of life and injury, as well as enable people to evacuate buildings safely and quickly.

A system that allows people to see and exit a building in an emergency. Emergency lighting is a legal requirement for all buildings in the UK, so you may need to install it if you have not already. The type required depends on your building’s use and size.

It’s important to note that emergency lights are not just for fire – there are many other types of emergencies, such as power outages or flooding. However, this article focuses on fire-related emergencies only so we’ll be referring to them as “fires” throughout this guide.
